The Palmer School of Library and Information Science of Long Island University invites applications for the position of Associate Dean and Director of the Palmer School.  The Palmer School, located on the C.W. Post campus of Long Island University, with additional campuses in Manhattan, Suffolk and Westchester Counties, is seeking a broadly grounded and experienced information science professional to head a diverse and growing information science program.

The successful candidate will provide dynamic leadership to a diverse full-time faculty in a newly configured and newly led College of Education and Information Sciences that offers exciting opportunities for creating new programs in the information domain broadly defined.   The candidate should be an effective communicator.

Preferred qualifications include experience with graduate education, a record of successful administrative positions, and familiarity with graduate programs educating information professionals.

The Palmer School offers a fully ALA accredited Masters in Library and Information Science as well as a Doctor of Philosophy in Information Studies.  In addition, we offer advanced certificate programs at the graduate level in Archives and Records Management and Public Library Administration. The accredited MLIS in Library and Information Science program is also offered in Manhattan<http://www.cwpost.liu.edu/cwis/cwp/cics/palmer/manhattan.html> at New York University's Bobst Library on Washington Square, home of the Rare Books and Special Collections concentration and the NYU/Palmer School dual degree program for Librarian Scholars.  In addition, selected master's level courses are offered in Westchester County<http://www.liu.edu/cwis/west/programs/library.htm> at the State University of New York at Purchase, and at the Brentwood<http://www.liunet.edu/cwis/brent/graduate/infoscience.html> Campus of Long Island University on eastern Long Island.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualification. Long Island University has an outstanding fringe benefit package, including tuition remission for employee and dependents. Applicants should have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a relevant field of study and scholarly qualifications appropriate for appointment at the Professor or Associate Professor level.
