I have attended two different presentations on Tape versus the Cloud and it comes out that the comparison of Cloud versus Tape; is ridiculously in favor of tape.  If reliability and security mean anything to you, tape is the answer.

The accuracy of tape is 3000 times better statistically based on error rates.  The Cloud only achieves some advantages when you add the deduplication and encryption and these are so expensive and such incompatible devices that it blows the whole calculation.

LinkedIn is a perfect example of how massive archives create massive hacking efforts.  I pulled the plug on LinkedIn and watching the difficulty they have pulling you out of all the things they linked me into made me realize how stupid "Linking" is in the first place.  Nothing of value was gained, much time was wasted and the end result is always more risk.  Seems like Cloud and LinkedIn were made for each other.
