The Library of Virginia, the archival agency for the Commonwealth of Virginia,
is seeking to fill two Records and Information Management Analyst positions in
the Records Management branch of the Archives, Records, and Collections
Services Division.
The Records Analysis Section provides direct services to state and local
governmental agencies to enable them to use effective and efficient
techniques in the management of public records during their lifecycle, to
ensure that records with continuing value to the Commonwealth’s citizens are
identified, and to fulfill the Library's role to make the archival records of the
Commonwealth available for use as required by the Virginia Public Records Act.
Qualifications:
Formal training and/or experience in records management and information
systems required.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in U.S. History, American
Studies, Political Science or Library Science, with emphasis in records
management, preferred.
Advanced degree in a related field preferred.
Previous experience in a large governmental archival or records management
program preferred.
Certification as a Certified Records Manager (CRM) highly desirable.
Ability to lift boxes or records weighing up to 20 pounds.
Must have a valid Virginia driver's license or ability to obtain one.
Security background check required.
KSAs and Competencies required to successfully perform the work:
Working knowledge of records management techniques and information
systems.
Working knowledge of state and local government organization, operations and
functions.
Demonstrated ability to develop retention and disposition schedules.
Excellent customer service skills required to provide consultative services.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of professional, support, and
clerical staff, and with public officials at the local, state, and federal levels.
Demonstrated ability to advise agency management on organizational and
operational issues.
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective training.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may
substitute for educational requirements.
