No, I haven't worked in RIM yet. I have varied work experience in many
different fields. Mostly I have noticed that many companies under-estimate
the power that RIM could add to their organization, dealing with their
records and information as kind of an after the fact thought. I work at a
community college which has been dealing with deep budgetary cuts, as many
public institutions have. I was talking with the Vice President of the
college as to whether there was, or ever would be, a position for an RIM
professional, and he basically said that he didn't see the value in it,
that it was a luxury they couldn't afford. Maybe if the institution valued
the management, use and accessibility of its information and records
more it would be better prepared to meet crises or to avoid them
altogether.
