Hi Julie,

Thanks for the vote of confidence - and note that I do some of this already,
with recent articles in Docume.nt Magazine, the AIIM ECM Buyer's Guide 2007,
and AIIM EDOC Magazine. I have a regular column on EDOC Online and would
welcome suggestions from the list on topics of interest, especially those
that address issues associated with electronic records management,
collaborative tools, and messaging applications.

Cheers from a CDIA+ class in Houston,

Subject: Re: [RM] New daylight savings time change--impact on RM?

<I don't know if others have noticed or not, but almost all of the
IT-type trade rags are using the new FRCP rules for all sorts of
requirements.>

Peter, I am seeing the same thing you are. My IT Director recently sent
out (to his reports, me, our boss and our general counsel) an article
(in his words) that is a "tech article about the recent FRCP changes
which may impact email archiving, records, document management system,
etc. We may need to see what changes or enhancements we may need to
consider."

I was struck by the number of times the word "may" was used! Needless
to say, I responded with a comment that we DO need to discuss this ...
there's no "may" about it!

The article really wasn't bad, although granted, was directed to IT
folks; however there was a gaping hole where the discussion of good RM
should have been. It did refer to the authors previous publication
titled "A strategy for document retention" and provided a link, but IMO
didn't do justice within the text of the article to the others in the
organization who IT folks should be collaborating with to achieve
desired results.

So, maybe we need to start writing more articles for tech trade rags?
Larry, Jesse, I nominate you two to get it started!

Julie
