William Lefevre asked:

"A bigger question is this: Is the conference model that ARMA has right now what RIM professionals need in the future as they pursue education for work, personal gain, CRM credits, etc... Is there a different model that would work better? Thoughts?"

I'm aware that ARMA (both the BOD and HQ staff) are looking at alternatives to the annual conference. I, for one, would sorely miss an annual conference for the following reasons:

- The face-to-face networking opportunities, as Jesse Wilkins mentioned, are fabulous and usually exceed in value the educational sessions (even when those sessions are great).

- It gets me away from my workplace so that I can focus my full attention on the people and events. (No matter how good e-learning content may be, I'm inevitably multi-tasking while it's going on. This is unavoidable.)

- It's a relatively pressure-free way to find out what new with vendors.

Just one woman's opinion.
