<.... yet I never use the terms "document" and "record" interchangeably.  Distinctions exist, can be important distinctions to make when choosing appropriate management tactics to apply to the content.>

Neither do I , nor I believe do most records managers.  However, many users do.  The two terms have become blended in their minds, for whatever reasons.
