Hello, all. My name is Mike MacLean and I work with Athabasca University
Archives and Records Management.

Re: the death of Hotmail, I would like to ask others if they have explored
Google+ yet. I recently activated an account to make use of some of the
features in Google+ (video conferencing, document sharing, etc). It has been
useful for a course I am taking.

From a perspective of RM, and given the fact that this Google service has
been adopted by a growing number of SMEs and government organizations, there
are a number of challenging considerations. I find Google+ to be fairly
intuitive to use, and some of the features are very good for collaborative
work. But the RM and security aspects to this are worrisome to say the
least. With Google's ownership of YouTube, you can stream your video
conference live and archive it automatically (here's President Obama's
Hangout session, for example:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/02/14/watch-president-obamas-google-hangout/)

Any thoughts?
