not necessarily so. I once had compact shelving installed in a space that
was about 10 foot by 15 foot. i've seen them installed in an old bank vault
(boy was that fun to unload)
as for damaging floors all compact shelving rides on rails
do consider the retrieval rate since only one aisle can be open at a time
