Places available on short online courses


A small number of places are available for study in May 2013 on the following short online courses offered by the Centre for Archive and Information Studies (CAIS) at the University of Dundee:

- Electronic Records Management (with Ilona Koti) - 15 weeks
- Wider Legal Frameworks (with Alan Bell) - 9 weeks

The deadline for applications is 15 March. Courses begin 13 May.

CAIS courses are taught by subject experts from the UK, USA and Canada and are provided in a fully supported online learning environment.



The courses are ideal for anyone seeking to acquire or refresh knowledge in these rapidly evolving areas of professional practice.



All short courses and Masters degrees offered by CAIS are accredited by the Archives and Records Association, UK and Ireland and by Records and Information Management Professionals, Australasia. The CAIS team was 'highly commended' by the Information and Records Management Society in their awards in 2007.

Electronic Records Management



This course examines key concepts and terminology, the properties of electronic records, the issues created by electronic records and the ways to develop e-records programmes within organisations.

Wider Legal Frameworks
This course surveys some of the legal structures that impact upon the work of information professionals over and above the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts including the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Acts, The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and the Human Rights Act.



CAIS offers short courses for continuing professional education, Postgraduate certificates, Masters degrees, opportunities for doctoral research and bespoke training solutions for partners.
