LISTSERVE:
The NFPA is asking those of us who are members to find alternates. This would look great on your resume´and you could help the Industry. Being an Alternate is as easy or valuable as you want to make it. You control the thrust of the Industry and you will learn a great deal. Even if you cannot attend the meetings and they move around the country to make it easy for people to attend some meetings, you would receive the communications and Technical Bulletins. The offsite storage industry sees this as important enough to have about 7 people in the room at all times. ARMA should be a player here. Larry Medina has been carrying the whole load for a long time. Here are the instructions on how to do this. If the hot spots go away when it cranks through the Listserve, Larry or I can explain the next step.

This is easy. You just have to read their stuff when the time comes to update the Standard. You need to submit your comments and if you can come to some meetings. ARMA should fund at least two people to attend their meetings. They are totally negligent that they do not fund attendance as records managers are the primary beneficiary of this standard. Read below and sign up. Larry and I need alternates. We also need at least two new Primary members. Here is the NFPA request:

WHO WILL BE MY ALTERNATE??
_______________

Technical Committee Members,

As we continue to develop our standards, I feel that it is important for us to have as many voices and diversification amongst our committees as possible. This is why I am writing this email to you today. I would like to encourage those members that do not have an alternate to consider appointing one. This will help to assure that your voice is heard in the event that you are unable to attend a meeting or to complete your ballot on time. If you have someone in mind that would be willing to assume the role of alternate, please have them submit an application by using the following links below. If you do not have an alternate option and you wish to have one, please feel free to contact me and we can review the hold list to see if anyone would be a good fit.

In order to be eligible for review during the October Standards Council meeting applications must be submitted on or before August 12, 2013.

To apply for membership on an NFPA Technical Committee, you must first sign-in on NFPA.org (If you do not have an NFPA.org sign-in, you will be asked to sign-in to create a free online account with NFPA before using the application system) and visit the Document Information Pages. Or you can get direct access by entering nfpa.org/and the document number, see example: www.nfpa.org/318. Choose the “Technical Committee” tab and select the link “Submit a Committee application online”.

I thank each and every one of you for your dedication to NFPA and the development of our standards as well your contributions to the fire protection community.

Regards,
