We bit the bullet a few years ago, sent all our aperture cards to a
scanning bureau, and replaced them with images now in our EDMS. Some are
very large!
A big part of the business case was that, long term, scanning was cheaper
than trying to maintain and house the aperture card readers, and the
resulting accessibility across a multi-site network was much better. Good
savings in equipment, accommodation and staff numbers.
If that won't work for you just yet, a nearby friendly scanning bureau may
be able to point you to a good supplier.
