I have used Yammer at my former as well as my current employer. In both
cases it was sort of a "below-the-radar" rollout that people used because
they found significant value as Vladimir noted. It has since become an
official channel for us at AIIM that many of us use on a daily basis. It
has also significantly reduced the amount of email-based collaboration
which is always a horror story.
It will be interesting to see what Microsoft does with it - it looks like
they will be weaving its key capabilities into Office365 and perhaps
eventually into on-premises SharePoint and Office assuming they continue to
exist.
