Note when they talk about storage, they mentioned fire rated.  That is a euphemism for a sheet rock room with a metal door.  In so many states, they have no real requirement to protect records.  They are forbidden from purposely destroying them but not from failing to protect them.

Unfortunately with the move to the Cloud, this will never be resolved. There are  few states that require vaults but 100 years from now, the history of the states will be unknown. Slow burn, catastrophic events and history junkies will make them all disappear.

Moving records offsite to the low cost, climate controlled self storage place is the dream of the bureaucrats looking to rid themselves of a problem.

Will the history of the world be according to Wiki in the future?
