The Alexandria Public Records Advisory Commission (PRAC) currently has three vacancies for citizen members.

The current members include one retired librarian, one working archivist, one working records manager - people who are all about information. The Commission advises the City Archivist, and works to get the Records Center the support it may need. The city's records are partly paper records, partly microforms, and partly electronic, so it runs the gamut. We are currently working to get City Council support for funding a critical renovation project. It helps to be interested in local politics.

A little more detail is at http://www.alexandriava.gov/boards/info/default.aspx?id=36620. We meet once a month for about an hour and a half in the evening, usually on the third Monday of the month; there are no meetings in July or August, or December.

If you are interested, please apply online at https://www3.alexandriava.gov/city/boards_comm/personal_data_new.html.

For more information, just get in touch! If you know someone who you think might be interested, please forward this to them.

Best,

Lisa
