Greetings,

Let me reintroduce myself, I have been quite on the ListServ lately. My name is Lisa and I am the Records Manager for a non-profit called IFES. IFES promotes democracy and governance around the world. This is my first records management gig. In a past life I was a Librarian, among other things.

From what I have gathered on the ListServ not a lot of people are using SharePoint out of the box to manage electronic records. I looked at an add on (Gimmel) and it seemed that it was more functionality than we require, as we don't require DoD compliance. I would like to hear arguments both for and against using SharePoint out of the box to manage electronic records. We do use SharePoint to manage documents in place now. My COO is really excited about the prospect of not having to buy another tool to manage electronic records. I just want to make sure that I manage his expectations.

Thank you in advance for your input.

Best,
LIsa
