AKIMA, Wash. -- Public records requests filed in Yakima continue to
sky-rocket, climbing in numbers since 2011. In July, the online system
which once allowed everybody to see documents requested went "private"
after city leaders believed there was widespread abuse in document
requests. Last year, Yakima received more than a thousand requests for
information -- a five-year record high.

"When you add that up, it comes out to be a considerable amount of money,"
said Tammy Regimbal, City of Yakima Public Records Officer.

"The problems of our economy have occurred not as an outgrowth of
laissez-faire, unbridled competition.
They have occurred under the guidance of federal agencies, and under the
umbrella of federal regulations."
Senator Ted Kennedy, in defending trucking deregulation in 1978.
