Thanks, Fred!

I was hoping there would be an universal agreement within the RIM discipline with respect to update cycles (or are the cycles different based on type of industry?) Can I give you a call? Let me know when you are available. Thanks.

Hi Vlad,

I don't believe there is universal agreement about update cycles. Some folks review theirs on a fixed period, others whenever the itch (perceived need) arises.

You might consider a two-part cycle: the first part would be a fixed period (you determine what works best for Tishman Speyer), and the second part would be ad hoc -- basically, whenever you find that statutes, treaties, or regulations have changed in any of the jurisdictions under which you fall.

For the ad hoc cycle, you might consider engaging a monitoring service in each region, to ensure nothing slips by.

Of course, you will want to compare the value of a two-part cycle against its costs....

FYI, the one standard I do know of is the revision cycle for most U.S. and international standards (including other publications, such as technical reports). That is five years.

Good luck!

Fred

Happy New Year to All!!

Our RRS for the U.S. office was first created and approved in 2003. It was then updated in 2013. In 2014, we incorporated in our RRS our European operations, thereby creating a global RRS. We are now in the process of performing the research for our South American operations. In the coming years, we will continue to expand our RRS to include Mexico, China and India.

The Question is- how often should the RRS be updated and what is best practice?

Thank you in advance for your time and trouble!

Sincerely, Vladimir
