Does anyone have any information, lessons learned or thoughts regarding digitization of microfilm? In particular film that was converted to electronic form using Quantum Software. We have a site where the microfilm was digitized to electronic format using Quantum software back in the 2009/2010 timeframe. They are currently converting from the Quantum format to PDF and are having issues when running the OCR process, it is not working well on the images due to the images not being as sharp due to multiple conversions (hardcopy to roll film to electronic and now to PDF). The OCR will pick up a few things that are more clear but very little. We are trying to determine if there is a better process to ensure the records are searchable.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

Thanks!
Kathy
