<< Here are our options, which do you believe is the best route?
 - Option 1 - Go with O365 as standalone system
 - Option 2 - Go with ECM solution as standalone system
 - Option 3 - Go with hybrid of both O365 and ECM solution together

I subscribe to the Andrew Carnegie school of thought: "Put all of your eggs in one basket and watch that basket."

The reason is simple, the most successful model of recordkeeping ever devised is the basis of the modern library system:

 - A single system with a common set of core indexes which allows users to search for content as broadly as needed or as narrowly as required.
	What is it?
	What does it relate to?
	What is the date?

Option 2 enables collaboration across organizations which cannot be accomplished by building multiple content solutions.

My suggestion would be to choose a solution which already provides seamless integration with the business applications you use most. In an ideal environment, most users will not even know they are working with an underlying ECM platform.
