Hello all,

I recently started subscribing to this List-Serv and have found it very
helpful so far! Hopefully someone will be able to help me out on this topic.

Our legal department, of which I am a part, is the primary driver for a
records program. I have basically been tasked with doing the groundwork for
the program (with assistance from my boss). We've been doing our research
for quite a while with varying results and a lot of learning through trial
and error. Although our upper management is behind the idea, it all
revolves around Return on Investment and completing our due diligence.

Though I would have many questions (and searching through the archives has
generated a lot of solid information), a primary question we face is vendor
selection. Essentially, are there any viable "off the shelf" programs for
running a solid records program in a 500+ employee, public corporation
environment? We have met with several vendors who could give us a
customizable software or portal solution, but upper management has asked us
whether a less expensive, enterprise-wide solution exists that we can
purchase on our own that is not tethered to a major consultant
group/software company.

I'd be happy to receive any replies or answer any questions offline.

Thanks,
Scott
