I have an odd statistical problem and I'm asking for help.

The design of our MER Conference market research stipulates that we include study participants from 3 categories based on the likelihood they would attend or recommend a colleague attend next May's MER Conference. The 3 categories are:

     - "Likely"
     - "Neither likely or unlikely"
     - "Unlikely"

Truth be told, given the large size of the RECMGMT-L, Twitter and our email communities in relation to the annual attendance of the MER Conference, we did not anticipate having difficulty finding study participants for the "unlikely" category. To our surprise, we have had a strong turn out of "Likely" and "Neither likely or unlikely" respondents, and a very lean response from the "Unlikely" category.

While we believe we know why people attend the MER Conference (and Cohee Research will affirm or adjust this belief), it is equally important - I might argue it is more important - to understand why people do not attend. After all, how can we make the conference better for those "unlikely" to attend if we don't hear their input. So we are asking for just that.

Anita Cohee and her team are professional market researchers. Theirs is not and interrogation or a sales pitch. It's a 30-minute telephone discussion where they will mostly listen to your responses to open ended questions. While Anita will know who you are, beyond Anita, all answers are anonymous. Nobody at the MER Conference will know the source of any responses!

To that end, if you believe you are unlikely to attend the MER Conference next May, we welcome, need and want your input.

     - Call 1.800.200.7667
     - Tell them you are interested in being a study participant.

All study participants are eligible for a $100 payment.

Once again, many thanks to those who have called and been scheduled thus far.

Kind Regards,

Seth Williams
President, MER Conference, Inc.
