I used a similar system to that which Roger mentioned in the early 1990's. We integrated a program to "electronically bates number" the scanned images. The first page carried the document number, 123456.000, each additional page had an appended number for the page, 123456.001. Didn't mark up my originals, numbered my images for metadata and allowed for easy retrieval. Wouldn't solve document type recognition, but I imagine you could run several sets of numbers if you didn't have too many document types, or you could build a document type code into the number itself. This is not recommendation their product only attempting to provide you with a solution. Roger Blais Coordinator, Records Management Canadian Blood Services 613-739-2593 Blood. It's in you to give. The purpose of the bar code is to provide the Kofax imaging solution and Content Manager a way to determine what type of document is being scanned and to provide a way to collect standard metadata for indexing, in order to locate the images during the search and retrieval process. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> We would like to use stickers, however, we are concerned that we are altering the original document and we are unsure how this would be viewed in the courts. Does anyone out there use this type of solution?
