I have been asked to consider establishing an association focused in the
management of recorded information here in Asia.  

There is a great opportunity for growth here, but it will be a slow build as
RM is at least 15 years behind the bleeding edge.  Asia is swift to move on
technology, but various greatly in terms of risk aversion and RM is widely
misunderstood to be warehousing. Even corporations seeking to purchase RM
components of global DMS products are largely unaware of the complexities
and implications of implementation within a corporate culture that is not
attuned to recordkeeping from an RIM perspective.

In this light, I would welcome contact from any interested party to explore
feasibility, funding, outreach, education, structure, governance, etc.  

As a founder of the Information and Records Management Association of
Victoria, a former president of the ICRM Board of Regents and member of the
ARMA International Relations Committee, I am under no false illusions about
the challenge.  This is an "early contact" to see if there may be interest
from professionals and practitioners in the region.
