Dear colleges,
I read that article and was surprised
"
"The popular social networking site, which is used by 12 million Canadians and 200 million people worldwide, also keeps personal information indefinitely after users deactivate their accounts, contrary to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, says the report released Thursday by assistant privacy commissioner Elizabeth Denham."
Some questions are:
Is the Facebook the Canada based company? I think that the company is not registered inside Canadian border. If I'm correct, what Law the company should follow?
"If Facebook does not comply at that point, the privacy commissioner's office can have its recommendations enforced by the Federal Court"
The Act mentioned in the article, it is Canadian Act only. Is it applicable to other countries as well?
Apply what - to close the Canada for Facebook owners, and users as well?
Only thing available in this situation is to declare every site, that does not answer local laws, as porno site and to block it.
I think that the purpose of the article may be only to inform the Canadian users of Facebook about dangerous that they can come across. Of course, after something happened, people go to local authorities to ask for help, that is difficult to provide.
Regards,
Alex Babin
