ICRM Announces New Qualification Standards
August 23, 2011 - The ICRM announced today, that after a unanimous vote of the Board of Regents, it has reduced and simplified its exam qualifications in order to eliminate administrative hurdles previously faced by CRM prospects.  Applicants who properly demonstrate achievement of a four-year (bachelor's) degree from an accredited institution of higher education must also demonstrate one year of professional Records and Information Management (RIM) experience. Alternatively, one year of professional Records and Information Management (RIM) experience can be substituted for each year of college education.

Previously, applicants were required to document professional work experience including two years (with a graduate degree) or three years (with a baccalaureate degree), with the additional stipulation that they show that they have conducted studies and surveys or develops, designs, and implements records management systems in three or more of the eight identified categories in the section on qualifications - among other requirements.

"The exams really stand on their own now," says Steve Golden, CRM, Chair of the ICRM Board of Regents. "This is the industry's most rigorous series of exams, culminating in the credential that has been respected for the last 36 years. We're pleased to make the application process more approachable for potential Candidates, without the need for them to jump through administrative hurdles of proving areas of expertise.  The exams prove an applicant's professional work experience quite adequately."

A degree and one year of experience = CRM? This seems like a substantial change over the years.
