I respectfully disagree with Fred's disagreement with me. :)

It's a Microsoft white paper about how to use a Microsoft product to store
by every indication a not-insignificant amount of information stored in
Microsoft file formats. I bet Microsoft's intended audience is not
necessarily a "broad" audience as much as it is Microsoft users who will use
Microsoft products to store Microsoft files in its Microsoft collaboration
application.

Don't like the paper in its .docx format? Don't use Sharepoint 2007. Easy
solution and there are lots of other quite good solutions, both
DoD-certified and not, whose capabilities are described in other formats.

Not trying to be either argumentative or glib - and I had my Microsoft
implant surgically removed a couple of years ago as I started switching over
to Google Docs, Thinkfree, Zoho, EditGrid, and an entire crop of Web 2.0
technologies (aside: I have an ARMA webinar on this in May and speaking on
this at AIIM in March - "Compliance 2.0: Managing Records in the Cloud" or
some such). But I do support Microsoft's right to do what they want and to
encourage those who don't like it not to use their software to the maximum
extent possible(!).

By the way, that PDF that was posted to the OT group - what flavor is it? I
only have Acrobat Reader 5, y'see, and it's not compatible with these
new-fangled Acrobat 8 files based on PDF Reference 1.7 - and I just don't
want to download a special viewer just for that....

Cheers,

Jesse Wilkins
