To further Brian's point, specific extensions could include but not be
limited to .mp3, .mp4, .wma, .wmv. There are others, such as .mid/midi,
.aiff, etc. - but the four I listed are probably the most common today.
.flv is another one that is specifically Flash content such as would be
uploaded to/downloaded from YouTube.

I'd also add .zip and any older archive files such as .tar, .rar, .gz, etc.
My justification is that they are often used as containers to package and
transmit batches of files, most often through creating copies of said
files. In other words, even if the originals were kept as records, the .zip
most likely wouldn't need to be. If the .zip is considered the record, I'd
argue for deleting the originals as themselves having become convenience
copies.
